While Southern California may be better known for churning out pop punk and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Limbeck is the rare band that consistently turns out great rock music that doesn't really need a genre or locale for reference. Telecaster guitars and from-the-heart lyrics permeate the band's graceful approach, which has developed over the course of making records at Eudora's Black Lodge Studios. When former Anniversary singer/guitarist Josh Berwanger began sensing the imminent collapse of his band, he did what any smart co-frontman would do he stole the rhythm section and split. A couple years later (and one brief detour to Canada behind him), Berwanger is back at it in Lawrence with a band that includes pedal steel wizard Casey Prestwood (of Hot Rod Circuit) and singer Heidi-Lynne Gluck (of Juliana Hatfield's Some Girls). It's the most focused lineup that he's ever had behind him, and the perfect one to pull off his Fleetwood Mac and Neil Young-inspired vision.
