There is largely nonational public debate. GMO foods have crept into supermarket shelveswithout any consideration to long-term health and ecosystemconsequences. The media has, as with many other important issuethat matters, failed to inform the American people on this issue, preferring instead to keep us thoroughly up to date on (insert hotcelebrities) love life and the latest courtroom drama of the hour.THE FUTURE OF FOOD addresses the facts that the mainstream media hasso far ignored, offering an in-depth investigation into the disturbingtruth behind the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foodsthat have quietly filled U.S. grocery store shelves for the pastdecade.Shot on location in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, the film examines thecomplex web of market and political forces that are changing what weeat as huge multinational corporations seek to control the world'sfood system. The film also explores alternatives to large-scaleindustrial agriculture, highlighting organic and sustainableagriculture as real solutions to the farm crisis today.
