Jeff and Vida / Big Cat KS

Gaslight Gardens

Perennial Walnut Valley Festival favorites Jeff and Vida recently relocated to Nashville in the wake of the New Orleans disaster, where they can perform their barnstorming tunes for appreciate locals who favor the pre-Toby Keith era. Like fellow Nashville fringe artists Todd Snider and Gillian Welch, Jeff and Vida make music with a wellspring of Opry context -- but none of the schmaltz. Equally adept at true-life ballads and rowdy mandolin and banjo romps, the harmonizing duo (often beefed-up to a trio or quartet) offers up the kind of meat-and-potatoes country and bluegrass that the Winfield faithful love to feast on.
