"Hall Pass" was written, directed and produced by Eric Frodsham-a.k.a. "Slick," the frontman of Sweet Band O' Mine and a former minor league pitcher-during the last three years largely in Lawrence (though Frodsham has since moved to Austin). The 90-minute feature -- produced with a $20,000 budget -- is a dark tale about a foster daughter of hyper-religious parents who has moved to a tiny, Midwestern town where she encounters a sexual predator at school. Lawrence, Kansas City and Wichita screenings are scheduled. Arthur Dodge and Wayne Gottstein (Split Lip) both contributed music to the film and will open the Lawrence show at 9 p.m. with the film at 10:30 p.m.Music TBA for Wichita show; no music scheduled for Kansas City.
