After a brief detour to the snowed-in confines of Winnipeg, Canada, songwriter Josh Berwanger is back in Lawrence with his wife and bandmate Heidi-Lynne Gluck (formerly of Juliana Hatfield's Some Girls). The couple's recently revamped Only Children lineup is a hot-playing cast of characters with beaucoup love for '70s acts like Fleetwood Mac, Gram Parsons and Bob Dylan and The Band. But there's also a bit of the playfulness-reggae, hair metal, etc.-that characterized Berwanger's former band The Anniversary, all filtered through the Americana paradigm peddled by Tom Petty and so many other dedicated troubadours. Lawrence surf rockers The Eudoras and Kansas City bliss-folkers The Belles set the stage. Grand Champeen is no longer on this bill....but they are playing this show.
