Drive-By Truckers

The Southern drawl that informs everything the Drive-By Truckers do is also the thing the Athens, GA, band constantly calls into question. Heartfelt odes to Lynyrd Skynyrd and economically-depressed small towns are laced with equal parts joy and sadness in the context of guitar-driven Southern Rock. Band leader Patterson Hood offers up slurred sing/speak narratives regarding topics like marriage, incest, revenge and murder with backing from a powerful five-piece band. Evidence of the group's highly regarded stage show can be found on their rambunctious live album "Alabama Ass Whuppin'" and the new Bettye LaVette soul album "Scene of the Crime" (for which DBT provided backing).
