Description: Along with bands like Naked Raygun and Strike Under, The Effigies were instrumental in developing the first generation of Chicago punk: driving, guitar-heavy noise which often shifted unabashedly into catchy melodies. The group toured the U.S. in a used van and put out records on Ruthless Records, a cooperative of The Effigies, Naked Raygun and Steve Albini (Big Black). After several break-ups and reunions, The Effigies reformed in 2004 with new guitarist Robert McNaughton and released a no-worse-for-the-wear new record called "Reside." Jim Derogotis of Sound Opinions calls the band "one of the greatest punk bands of the early '80s."
$5 advance, $7/9 day of show.
