From the front to the back, left and to the right, Sean Hunt - aka Approach - has made an indelible mark on Lawrence's hip-hop scene. His 2004 debut "Ultra Proteus" utilized a cast of local musicians to serve up funky hip-hop party jams. Since then, he's been largely holed up in his home studio, recording multiple albums worth of material but keeping most of it under lock and key. "Welcome to Share" is the first batch to surface, marking a paradigm shift towards Euro-centric club beats and future-is-now electro experimentalism. As always, it's chunks o' fun, begging booties to bounce recklessly while covertly pushing a positive message. Tonight's CD release party will double as a send-off for 'Pro, who will continue his journey in San Francisco and undoubtedly bring a few homeboys along for the ride. Free copy of "Welcome to Share" with admittance to the show.Doors at 9. Music at 10.Catch the pre-party of sorts at the Gaslight, the CD release BBQ party for I.D.'s latest release.
