Set in rural Kansas, "The Empty Acre" is a dramatic horror film about an unseen force that feeds on a small farming community. Conceived as an "X-Files"-esque thriller, the 105-minute film straddles the line between suspense and horror and features a local cast starring Jennifer Plas, John Wilson and Robert Paisley. Lawrence director Patrick Rea has been working on the film for more than four years, making tonight's premier a long-awaited event for the cast and community alike. The evening's entertainment will also feature the short film "Merriman's Circle," written by Jon Niccum. Immediately following the screening, the film crew will be having an afterparty at The Jayhawker.
