Description: Inspired by their favorite kinds of shows (the energetic, crowd-loving, raw variety),The Kinetiks write songs heavy in female harmonies, big guitar chords, electronic expression and dance-your-pants-off beats. Their long-anticipated debut EP "Music History" arrived late last year after 10 months of work and the introduction of bassist Phil Gratz.
Fans of jangle-pop gurus such as The Posies and Sloan should take to The Alice Rose, a quintet from Austin that dishes out sharp classic pop a la Squeeze. The unsigned group released a well-received LP dubbed "Phonographic Memory" in 2006 and showcased at the SXSW music festival.
Heavy on vocal harmonies and absolutely not shy of THE hook, Kansas City's The ACB's have earned a reputation for epic performances and pants-off power-pop that could make Matthew Sweet do the robot (er, the enthusiastic head nod?).
