Description: On Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12, the Lawrence Fair Trade Coalition at the University of Kansas is aligning with other universities and like-minded groups in the region to sponsor the second annual Fair Trade in the Heartland Conference. This year’s conference is entitled “Starting a Movement, Building a Community”. Beyond reaching out and spreading awareness about the global Fair Trade movement, we hope to also impart a better understanding of the local markets. Our surrounding community is often overlooked for the generic products offered by the global market. Through this conference, we will learn and teach others about the benefits of a localized economy and the importance of maintaining a strong sense of unity with our neighbors and local businesses.
Register at www.lawrencefairtrade.org - $10 for students and $15 for community members, delicious local meals are included!
