Description: What Mos Def is to Brooklyn, Common is to Chicago's South Side. Lonnie Rashied Lynn (also previously known as Common Sense) began his career over 16 years ago as a goofy yet ultra-literate MC whose smooth delivery, mindset, and continued lyrical progression couldn't have contrasted more starkly with the thuggish, coast-centric rap available via MTV and the radio. His work and friendships with artists like Q-Tip, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and ?uestlove of The Roots garnered attention and he signed with MCA in 2000. Some of his best work can be found on his more recent albums such as "Be," featuring fellow Chicagoan Kanye West.
