Scott was born and raised in central Kansas. He holds degrees from the University of Kansas and Columbia University, and has lived and worked in New York, London, and Cape Cod – he now lives in Boston. He is the author of three novels including "In Awe" (1997), and a book of poems, "Saved From Drowning" (1993). Scott is extremely well known in the gay community and his work is considered some of the best in gay literature.
