Where: The Bottleneck, 737 N.H., Lawrence
Cost: $15

Description: Note: the last ticket was sold April 22.
Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim are an absurd sketch-comedy duo** that subjects the world (ok, really just the stoners who watch "Adult Swim") to their zany brand of surreal whimsy. Lampooning karaoke singers, instructional hip-hop dancers, puppeteers, news reporters and anything else that sucks, the "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!" appeals to the same morally depraved scumbags who enjoy "Mr. Show" and Weird Al Yankovic. The duo's live tour features dancers with muffin tops and many of the same characters that enliven the "Awesome Show," only it's a lot more awkward because they can actually see you.
** Update: a comedy duo that this writer—who happens to find Tim & Eric HILARIOUS as well (see comment below)—hesitates to describe in such relative terms as "funny," etc. A more comprehensive description is available in this interview. Pardon the misunderstanding.

El Paso Hot Button / Callupsie :: This one-man band from Norman alternately recalls the White Stripes and artier acts like Enon, and though he's more about cool songs than flashy performances, he manages some nifty jump tricks on stage. ... More info

Tim and Eric ARE absurd, you are correct. What you don't seem to realize is that TAEASGJ is HILARIOUS. It is this kind of absurd humor that actually makes their show interesting and fun to watch.
I'm not a stoner (I've never done a single drug in my life), nor am I a morally depraved scumbag (I am a very morally apt individual). YOU sir (or madam) obviously have no sense of humor, or possibly just have the type of shallow, indecent sense of humor that is the reason for so many of today's dumb, hollow movies and tv shows. Maybe you should go back to reviewing movies and shows such as "American Pie Beta House" or "A Shot at Love 2 with Tila Tequila." Heck, if you review these, you'll have a lifetime of reviews of straight to DVD movies and failed attempts at love by the super lame. Goodness knows those greedy Hollywood types will continue to make sequels of these ridiculous shows for the hordes of idiots that roam America.
