Two of Lawrence's top bluegrass acts hook up with the old-timey Kansas City Bear Fighters for a night at KC's Record Bar. Bret Resnick of The Jen Say Kwahs contributes tasty pedal steel licks to the Sasquatchers, a Scruggsy bluegrass outfit with high-lonesome harmonies and ramblin' banjo/mando/guitbox. Deadman Flats have become a top local draw with a mutant bluegrass sound that channels Ween and The Dead Milkmen as much as Split Lip Rayfield and the Hackensaw Boys. The Kansas City Bear Fighters used to be The Denver Broncos, but their legal department didn't have the resources to mount a defense against a pro football team. Eaither way, the group's goodtime blend of ragtime, old-time and "Time After Time" goes down smooth like a Mezcal worm.
