Celebrate your country with Lawrence's annual fireworks display. Grab a blanket, some mosquito spray, and your patriot cap and head on down to the new display location at Clinton Lake. Fireworks will be shot off from the north end of the dam on the east side of the lake. Traffic will be directed to a field where parking will be available for the show.Gates open at 8 p.m., and the fireworks show will start at 10 p.m. It is expected to last 30 to 45 minutes.Other area fireworks displays...Baldwin CityThe traditional fireworks show will start at dark Friday at the baseball fields at Baldwin High School.BasehorThe Basehor fireworks display will begin at 9:15 p.m. Friday at the Basehor-Linwood High School football stadium, and before that the national anthem and a flag ceremony will start at 9 p.m. at the football field.De SotoThe city's fireworks display will be 30 to 45 minutes after sundown Friday at the De Soto High School Stadium, 8800 Penner Ave.EudoraThe city will sponsor a fireworks display Friday after dark at the Eudora school district's south campus. The parking lots at the middle and high schools on Church Street south of Kansas Highway 10 will be open to watch the show.McLouthThe city's annual fireworks show will begin at dark Friday at the McLouth Sports Complex, and viewers can park and watch along Bulldog Lane.Perry LakeThe Perry Lake Association's public display will draw a crowd to the lake in Jefferson County at 10 p.m. Saturday, one day later than most area shows. The grounds will be open for parking at 5 p.m.
