with Chelsea Laswell
When: Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 7 p.m.
Where: The Gaslight Tavern & Coffeehouse, 317 N. Second, Lawrence
Cost: $5
Age limit: 21+
Categories: Music | Americana, Folk, Singer/songwriter
Description: Singer/songwriter Brooke Miller was born and raised on Canada's Prince Edward Island, a place that's about as far off the musical-mainstream map as her unorthodox tunings and naked lyrics. Recently married to fingerstyle guitar master Don Ross (a mentor to Topeka guitar wiz Andy McKee), Miller is an exceptionally talented acoustic guitarist who takes inspiration from songwriters like Rickie Lee Jones and Bruce Cockburn. On her 2007 release "You Can See Everything," Miller's mellow musings are accompanied by subtle dobro leads that highlight her adventurous arrangements and evocative vocals.
"Everywhere," Brooke Miller
