Description: Lawrence's E.M.U. Theatre will perform a theatre-in-the-park style performance of Tom Stoppard’s absurdist, existentialist tragicomedy "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead," directed by Jeff Sorrels. The Shakespearean parody follows the misadventures and musings of Rosencrantz (Aaron Champion) and Guildenstern (John Furst), two of Hamlet’s lesser-known characters who happen upon and interject themselves into a traveling performance of Hamlet while simultaneously interacting offstage with the actors performing it. The main actor in the traveling show is The Player (Andrew Stowers), who becomes the omnipotent voice of reason and makes Rosencrantz and Guildenstern question their existence and purpose.
Performances are June 6th, 13th and 14th at 7:00 PM and June 8th at 2:00 PM in South Park. Tickets are $6 and available for advance purchase at the Lawrence Arts Center or the day of the show.
