Cost: $20

Description: Folk troubadour Richard Thompson has been-there, done-that for the better part of 30 years now since his beginnings in British folk-rock group Fairport Convention. Respected and admired by artists as diverse as Michael Stipe, Bonnie Raitt, Dinosaur Jr. and Bob Mould (all of which have covered songs from his immense catalog), Thompson is a journeyman of folk, rock, R&B and just about any other roots-based song form out there. While original songs like "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" are stand-alone classics, Thompson is a skilled interpreter of traditional songs and covers from The Beatles to Prince. He'll go it solo tonight in support of his umpteenth album "Sweet Warrior."

'Sweet Warrior' is such a well-played group effort that it's only slightly disappointing that RT's playing solo tonight. Having seen him play both solo and with a band for over 20 years I know it'll be a good one.
