The Silent Years / Sick Bird
When: Friday, March 21, 2008, 10 p.m.
Where: The Eighth Street Tap Room, 801 N.H., Lawrence
Cost: $2
Age limit: 21+
Description: SPIN Magazine's 2007 Underground Artist of the Year visits Lawrence on the back end of its tour into the belly of the music-industry beast (aka SXSW). Pitchfork and Daytrotter have also heaped kudos on the Michigan band, which utilizes intense dynamics and six-plus members to produce cathartic live experiences. Falling somewhere on the spectrum between Creeper Lagoon and The Stills, The Silent Years have the goods to get further above ground if they can catch another break or two.
