Lawrence native Ashley Ray has been hustling her way through the Nashville machine in hopes of catching the kind of break that could put her in the company of her idols. She may be on the cusp of a breakthrough year with an album forthcoming on Capitol Records Nashville (following on the heels of a slick four-song EP that debuted last September). The sassy songwriter pens would-be contemporary country hits for blue-collar, beer-drinkin' crowds who also dig on acts like Dierks Bentley and Cross Canadian Ragweed.
