Where: The Record Bar, 1020 Westport Road, Kansas City, MO

Description: "Sonic Spectrum" host Robert Moore and a cast of local bands celebrate the pop genius of The Go-Betweens and honor the memory of chief songwriter Grant McLennan, who passed away in May 2006. Formed in 1977 by McLennan and Robert Forster, the Australian band became alternative radio darlings on the strength of six albums released before the group's dissolution in 1989 (they later reassembled with members of Sleater-Kinney). Alongside U2 and Coldplay, The Go-Betweens inspired tunesmiths such as Teenage Fanclub and Belle & Sebastian—as well as, presumably, the local bands that will pay tribute tonight.

DJ Robert moore will spin Go-Betweens cuts before, in-between and after the show.
