Matt Costa / Delta Spirit

Granada

Matt Costa sings immediately catchy acoustic pop songs in the manner of The Shins, but thoroughly schooled by the moves of '70s tunesmiths like Jackson Browne and Todd Rundgren. The California native hooked up with the neo-folk Brushfire Records label (home to Jack Johnson, G. Love and Mason Jennings) for his latest "Unfamiliar Faces," which casts hues of folk, Brit-pop and indie rock. Openers Delta Spirit mine similar territory with equally pleasing results on their debut LP "Ode to Sunshine," a soulful tambourine-shaking collection with a swagger reminiscent of past tour mates Cold War Kids.
