Ostaf Heller is a Fresh Produce Art Collective and DotDotDot ArtSpace member with a background in photography, woodworking, and metalsmithing. Bringing new works in heat "painted" coppers (imagery produced by torching the metal), found-object sculpture, paintings in multiple mediums including a home brewed technique called "Puddles", co-engineered @ Wrath & Heller Studios here in Lawrence with artist Josie Wrath, and Woodworks produced at Red Poppy Studios (new local transplants from Salina).After a whirlwind spring and summer of group shows locally and throughout the midwest, Ostaf Heller is taking the opportunity to hold his first solo exhibition at his home base, the DotDotDot ArtSpace. Displaying versatility with many mediums and cross-breeding techniques to create unique art with a pioneer spirit. This artist's talk is in conjunction with his exhibit seið maðr, (pronounced sayth mawth r) is an old Norse term which refers to practioners of sorcery or alchemy. Heller uses the term in a modern context to describe the rituals of today's artist: experimenting in science and imagination to illustrate new notions.Heat painted copper, sculpture, painting, and wood works with theme of sustained/repeated systems . . .
