Found-Object Art Contest

at the River City Reading Festival

Read Across Lawrence is looking for grassroots artists of all ages to create "found object" artworks. Found object art is made using items that you find (obviously) and which had some other original purpose. There will be three age divisions: children younger than 6th grade; teens 7th to 12th grade; and adults 18 and over. Found object awards will be given in a variety of categories. Judges will be K T Walsh, Pam Grout, and Don Mayberger. Please keep your creation to 12 inches in length and width, and 24 inches in height. Other than that, anything goes, so let your imagination and creativity go wild! You will need an official entry form. On the back, write the title of your piece and a short statement about it. For children, the statement should be no more than four sentences. For teens and adults, no more than 50 words. Entry forms are available at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont, or email mbutler@lawrence.lib.ks.us.This is the really important part: Bring your artwork to the south side of the Library between 10 am and noon on Saturday, September 27, the day of the River City Reading Festival. Judging will begin at noon, and prizes will be awarded at 1 pm. Artwork must be picked up by 4 pm.
