Kansas City's The Life and Times delivers grandiose and loud music twice the size of its three-person lineup, recalling ethereal acts like Blonde Redhead and My Bloody Valentine as well as majestic rock bands like Sunny Day Real Estate and Hum. Former Shiner frontman Allen Epley heads up the power trio, which is propelled by one of the best rock drummers you'll ever see (Chris Metcalf) and low-end maestro Chris Abert. Tonight the group will celebrate the release of its long-in-the-making new album "Tragic Boogie."
Opener Little Brazil is an Omaha band that's fronted by Landon Hedges, a former guitarist for Desaparecidos and The Good Life. Now focused on his own project, Hedges' own pen takes center stage on his group's new album "Son" (released via Kansas City's Anodyne Records). Recalling high-energy acts like Superchunk and Cursive, Little Brazil is tailor made for rip-roarin' live shows.
This is an all-ages early show that starts promptly at 8pm.
