Amanda Shaw is a 19-year-old New Orleans-based singer, fiddler, actress, and environmentalist.

Among her many accomplishments, Shaw recently released her national debut album, Pretty Runs Out, and starred in the 2006 IMAX film, Hurricane on the Bayou. She regularly draws record-breaking crowds at the illustrious New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and spreads awareness about the plight of the disappearing Louisiana wetlands.

Shaw’s distinct Cajun-influenced pop sound is as much the product of classic violin training, as it is the incomparable experience of growing up in New Orleans. At the age of 3, Shaw began her violin studies after seeing an orchestra on television. At the age of 7, she became the youngest performer ever to solo with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra. Since then, embracing a roots-based fiddle style, Shaw has worked with Charlie Daniels, Arlo Guthrie, Delbert McClinton and others.

At the outdoor concert, Shaw will perform country, pop, jazz-blues rock with her band, the Cute Guys. While in Lawrence, Shaw will visit the Americana Music Academy, as well as the Kaw Valley Heritage Alliance’s Wakarusa Wetland Learners.
