Jamey Johnson / Randy Houser

Beaumont Club

Jamey Johnson is the co–writer of George Strait's hit song “Give It Away,” as well as the author of songs for Trace Adkins, George Jones, and Joe Nichols. But instead of sitting at home counting his royalty checks, Johnson recorded more than 40 songs during the past few years, collecting the best ones on 2007's "That Lonesome Song." As a songwriter who grew up idolizing Waylon Jennings, Johnson fits the outlaw archetype more than the big-name singers who sing his words — though he'll likely be among them soon enough.
