Liberty Hall-iday Boogie with David Basse and OJT

Liberty Hall Cinema

For the past twenty years, David Basse has been at the forefront of the music scene in the legendary jazz capitol of Kansas City. Basse carries on a tradition started half a century ago by icons Charlie Parker, Count Basie and Jay McShann. His City Light Orchestra has long been hailed as Kansas City's premier swingin' jazz ensemble.

Lawrence trio OJT — Ken Lovern on Hammond Organ, Brian Baggett on guitar, and Kevin Frazee on drums — has a wide variety of music in its unique organ-jazz bag. The OJT plays originals as well as tunes in the style of predecessors like Jimmy Smith or Brother Jack McDuff and serves up fresh takes on modern pop (say Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" or even some Grateful Dead). Expect a Mistletoe-bitten set list tonight.
