Umphreys McGee / Matisyahu

Crossroads KC

Chicago's Umphrey's McGee works the jamband circuit with neo-prog tunes closer to the Steely Dan/Yes/Rush side of the spectrum than the Phish nation they came of age with. The group's recent album "Mantis" is its first studio album since 2006's "Safety in Numbers" and its first to consist entirely of material never previously performed on the road.

Matisyahu combines elements of hip-hop and reggae to create uplifting and spiritually charged performances. His Hasidic heritage informs his soul-seeking lyrics, which are typically uttered rapid-fire over the dub-inspired licks of his backup band.
