The Builders and the Butchers are a barnstorming group of folkies who stomp so hard they just might bring down the rafters. The group purveys jolly Ninth Ward folk tunes with macabre lyrics and street-performer instrumentation (pieces of which they've been known to pass out to audience members). Comparisons to the Decemberists are inevitable since they kick it Portland-style, but these West Coasters are a bit more ragged around the edges.
