From the organizers: Come join us for the Ice Cream Extravaganza benefitting Jubilee Café and enjoy a cold treat on a hot summer afternoon. Lawrence’s best ice cream shops (such as Sylas & Maddy’s, Ben & Jerry’s, Dairy Queen, Culver’s and Sheridan’s) will be bringing their tastiest items, and for a $2 entrance fee you get to try them all. You will then have the opportunity to buy a $3 cone/cup of your favorite flavor, which will count as a “vote” towards that business. The business with the most votes at the end of the day will be named Lawrence’s Favorite Ice Cream Shop! All proceeds will go to Jubilee Café Homeless Kitchen.

• Help those in your community less fortunate than you. Many members of our community struggle even to find food. By supporting Jubilee Café, you will be feeding hungry stomachs.
• Support your favorite local ice cream shop. Only with your vote will we be able to answer the age-old question: What’s the best ice cream shop in town?
• Entertain your kids on a Sunday afternoon!
• And of course, all of this just by enjoying delicious cold treats for a small price on a hot summer day!
For those of you who don’t know, Jubilee Café is a breakfast kitchen for the homeless and needy in the Lawrence community. It is funded solely by donations and staffed solely by volunteers. We serve breakfast every Tuesday and Friday morning at First United Methodist Church; cooking starts at 5 a.m. and the guests arrive at 7 a.m. The summer months are especially difficult for the café as volunteers and donations are hard to find. That’s why we’re asking for your help! The Ice Cream Extravaganza gives you a chance to support the needy in your community while enjoying a tasty treat in the middle of blazing hot summer!
