Metric / Sebastien Grainger

There's really no good reason for Metric to not be as famous as Kelly Clarkson. The Canadian band is all-in for mainstream success with its third album "Fantasies," but it's still wittier and more subversive than most bands that crack the Top 40. Frontwoman Emily Haines - also notable for her lovely solo recordings - commands a road-tested band that also includes stud guitarist James Shaw and a driving rhythm section. Recalling groups like Blondie and Missing Persons while sounding entirely modern, Metric's sizzling alchemy of new-wave and '90s alt-rock should translate pristinely to the Granada stage.
