Detroit's Von Bondies have been playing a high-energy hybrid of garage rock, punk, and soul for a hot decade. The group's new album "Love Hate and Then There's You" is its first in five years, and it sounds invigorated by the addition of new members Leann Banks and Christy Hunt. Hard-driving numbers like "The Chancer" are perfect encores to the group's 2004 hit "C'mon C'mon," recalling Frank Black's tougher side and Iggy Pop's most photogenic side.
