New Zealand's Bachelorette (Drag City Records) takes inspiration from the tech-pop sounds of Brian Eno and Kraftwerk as well as more recent groups like Stereolab and Ladytron. Where mastermind Annabel Alpers goes from there is her own thing, though: easy-on-the-ears pop, heavy on the keyboards and thumps, and lyrics tinged with a sci-fi psyche. Here, try this free mp3 ("Mindwarp").
