Area homeless and mental health advocates will host four forums on mental illness and homelessness beginning Monday June 29 at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt.
The series was organized by the Coalition on Homeless Concerns and the Recovery and Hope Network in order to help educate the community about homelessness and mental illness.
The first forum, “Mental Health and Homelessness,” will feature speakers who currently are, or have been, homeless and also suffer from a mental illness.
A second forum, on Aug. 31, will focus on crisis training for dealing with mental illness. The third forum, set for Sept. 28, will address specific issues of homelessness and mental illness here in Lawrence, while the final forum on Nov. 30 will look for solutions based on the dialogue from the forums. All forums begin at 7 p.m. at the library.
