Jonathan Richman

Record Bar

Most Joe-the-Plumbers probably know Jonathan Richman as the crooner from "There's Something About Mary," but those who've listened to him beyond the movie know Richman as the suave frontman of The Modern Lovers. That band's seminal proto-punk songs like "Roadrunner" and "Pablo Picasso" laid the foundation for Richman's long and offbeat solo career. Known for his melancholy ruminations on love, Richman is a charismatic performer who isn't afraid to break into a dance or ad-lib impromptu onstage monologues. His poppy folk songs are simple and perfect, distilling complicated emotions into humorous and affecting punchlines.

Richman performs at 9:30 sharp. There will be no support acts.
