The Botticellis / Sugar & Gold / Bart Davenport

Record Bar

The Botticellis play shimmering power pop steeped in a classic analog sound, orchestral melodies and the California Sunshine. Their breakthrough album, "Old Home Movies" updates the sound of such legends as Big Star and George Harrison with a dose of the Shins and Grizzly Bear. Gracing too many "best of 2008" lists to count, including those of Paste, All Music Guide and Future Sounds, Old Home Movies has emerged as a critic's favorite and one of the strongest debut albums of 2008. Sugar & Gold take classic harmony based songwriting and kick it into the 21st century with a healthy dose of Moroder influenced electro and indie dance chops ala CSS or the Scissor Sisters. Their debut album,"Creme" was released in 2007 and their sophomore effort is due in late 2009. With an electrifying live show that never fails to move even the most uptight teasers, S&G have been making a national name for themselves, sharing stages with the likes of !!!, Fujiya & Miyagi, Los Campesinos, Grand Ole Party, the Dodos, Von Iva and Gravy Train, while having several songs featured in multiple episodes of MTV's The Real World. After years as a pillar of the Bay Area scene, Bart Davenport is ready to break out into the national conscience. After his self-described "studio side project" Honeycut exploded with their album "The Day I Turned To Glass", Davenport's soulful singing and ear for amazing melodies are reaching their biggest audience yet with his fourth solo LP "Palaces". Bart was raised on mod rock and his music is steeped in the tradition of singers like Harry Nilsson and Arthur Lee while reminiscent of new-classic pop like Peter Bjorn and John and Jens Lekman. Legendary in the Bay Area for his solo acoustic performances as well as full band ensembles, Bart will be performing with a full electric band for this tour.
