Sultry blues singer/pianist Kelley Hunt may be Kansas City's best-known export of late on the roots R&B tip. Hunt gained a devoted following from her appearances on NPR's Prairie Home Companion and solidified her smart-diva status with the very fine album "New Shade of Blue." Though Hunt mostly plays originals, she's not shy about channeling her influences: Billie Holiday, Ray Charles, Mahalia Jackson and Aretha Franklin to name a few. With Norah Jones commanding $50 a ticket, don't feel shy about investing in this equally talented local artist.
