A lifelong Kansan, Rachel Larson grew up on a farm in north central Kansas. She studied art at the University of Kansas where she earned a B.F.A. in 2007 with specialties in sculpture and art history.
From the artist: “In navigating the world as children we constantly encountered forms and feelings that we couldn’t yet place into neat categories. As adults everything appears more familiar, literal, routine, and yet we often feel that we have lost touch with something vital in the process. In my work I attempt to intentionally dull my categories, tolerate contradiction, and ultimately re-connect with the enchantment of exploring everyday objects, sex, joy, and terror. I hope these works enrich your experience of the world with a small measure of childlike wonder.”
