2010 Kaw Valley Farm Tour

The 6th Annual Kaw Valley Farm Tour will be Saturday, Oct. 2 and Sunday, Oct. 3. More than 20 local farms are featured as stops along the tour. There will also be activities, cooking demonstrations and bus excursions throughout the weekend.

2010 Tour Dates:

October 2 and 3
10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day
$10 per vehicle or Bus Tours (see Special Events)
Gather up your friends, get a ticket, and make a plan of which farms you want to visit. Dress comfortably and bring a cooler for purchased products.
One ticket grants entrance to all 21 farms!

Our Local Food Fest: Growing Healthy Kids through Healthy Food
Local food, guest speakers, and a movie about what we eat!

Proceeds to benefit the West Junior High School Garden.

Chef Paige will demonstrate a seasonal, savory dish to be sampled and
paired with Blue Jacket wines.

Family Bus Excursion
Saturday, October 2, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Get on the yellow school bus with the Merc and load up on family fun!
Together we’ll take a mini-tour of some of the kid-friendly highlights
on this year’s Kaw Valley Farm Tour. We’ll stop first
At Prairie Moon Waldorf School’s Okanis Garden. Then we will head to
Pendleton’s Country Market where we can take a hayride, visit the
Butterfly Bio-Villa, and eat our sack lunches.
Then on to Lawrence Landscape’s Tree Farm where kids and grownups
alike can chuck pumpkins with the trebuchet -- or paint them! Our
last stop will be the West Junior High School Garden where student
gardeners will be our tour guides. Bring reusable shopping bags for
purchases, a sack lunch for the grownups, and dress for the weather.
This tour is rain or shine!
The Merc will provide PB&J sandwiches, juice and fruit for the kids.
$5 per person/$20 per family of 4-plus, tickets available at The Merc.

Wine Bus Tour!
Saturday, October 2, 12:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Take a mini-tour of wine country – in Kansas! Come get on the Bus with
The Merc and visit the three wineries that are on this year’s Kaw
Valley Farm Tour. We’ll start out from 9th and Iowa at 12:30 and ride
along old Kansas highways to Basehor to tour Holy-Field Vineyard and
Winery. Then, down to Eudora along beautiful country roads, where
we’ll stop off at Davenport Orchards and Vineyard to get close up with
the wine and the vines. Finally, we’ll stop at nearby BlueJacket
Crossing Vineyard and Winery and return to The Merc by dinnertime.
Bring reusable shopping bags for your purchases, wear sturdy shoes,
and dress for the weather. This tour is rain or shine! Bottled water,
snack, and tour guide provided!
Tour is open to those 21 and over only, please.
Cost: $5 per person, tickets available at The Merc.
Enrollment limited to 40 people, so register early!
