Drop City - Documentary

Liberty Hall Cinema

Emerging from the outcast art scenes of 1960's Lawrence, Drop City was an artist community in the foothills of the southern Rockies that became an icon for a global counterculture. This documentary by New York filmmaker Joan Grossman highlights this story of whimsical innovation and the drive to create a new civilization on the scrapheap of a wasteful society.

A conversation with Joan Grossman and dropper Gene Bernofsky, moderated by artist Michael Krueger will follow the screening.

This is a scan of the great early underground comic produced at Drop City...The Being Bag. The Being Bag was written by creative folks from Lawrence, including Gene Bernofsky, filmmaker, and Clark Richert, artist.
