You may have noticed that the Olive isn't really too keen on landscapes. But Justin Marable's rural Kansas landscape screen prints are quite stunning! Taken from his photography these screen prints have a unique feel to them. The skies are often brilliant monoprints behind monumental farmhouses, grain elevators and the like. Marable says,"Within the prints and photographs, I hope to bring an awareness of current conditions to a regionally based audience, who are concerned with the emigration of small town populations and the gradual disappearance of local history." Meet the artist at the opening reception on Saturday, April 2nd from 6-10p.m. in the Olive Gallery. Aaron Marable will be providing musics, and the art of KassyMiddleton and Wade Cheek will be featured in the "Collaborative Corner."On display April 2nd-27thOpening Reception: Saturday, April 2nd, 6-10p.m.
