Description: The Downtown Lawrence Farmers’ Market will open for the season on Saturday, April 30, two weeks earlier than in previous years.
The farmers' market will offer a wide array of products including vegetable plants, bedding plants, asparagus, rhubarb, greens, lettuces, herbs, cut flower bouquets, baked goods, meat, prepared foods, crafts, and bodycare products. The band Big Stack Daddy will provide live music on opening day.
The market, which is beginning its 29th season, is the oldest farmers' market in Kansas. More than 70 vendors, including eight new vendors, have signed up to participate. It is a producer-only market, which means that everything offered at market is produced by vendors and is homegrown or handmade in northeast Kansas. No wholesale resellers are allowed.
The market is open from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays and from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the spring, and opens at 7:30 a.m. in the fall. It is held in the city parking lot on the east side of Vermont Street between 10th and 11th streets.
