From the artists: After an adventure to Costa Rica that took us from the jungle to the beaches and the mountains, we have landed back in Lawrence, Kansas to finally pause and digest our travels. While south-of-the-border, we painted on the blank walls of small village schools and grocery stores. We used our skills to trade painted signs for lodging, beer, fresh baked goods and bit of cash for gas. Largely influenced by the naive, hand painted advertisements seen at every turn of the head, this exhibition's paintings consist of acrylic on salvaged wood. Text abounds with lines lifted from the poetry of Neruda and Lorca combining with personal memoir. The work avoids imitation by accepting that ours is a westerner's voice and so allows the cultures to collide like an enthused foreign exchange student's first month of classes.

What the? A story about art with Zip, Zero, Nada, photos of said art. C'mon just a few photos would go a long way to wet the appetite and pique our artistic interest.
