Hidden Slaves, Hidden History focuses on the existence of the Underground Railroad in Douglas County, Kansas. Written for a family audience, this temporary exhibit traces the slavery issue in Kansas' territorial period, highlights some of the county's historical figures, and encourages audiences to look at the Underground Railroad from a historian's perspective. The exhibit will run from June 5 to June 21, 2015. The Watkins Museum of History is open 10-4 Tuesday-Saturday, until 8 p.m. on Thursdays, and from 1-4 p.m. on Sundays.
