The coffee makers here know what they are doing. The coffee is fabulous here. Only have had a few muffins/scones here for food and they are good.

The baristae are indeed great. I've had the best chocolate milk in my adult life here and i don't think it's even on the menu.

personally, i like it when it's quiet - not too many people. they've got just about every daily newspaper you'd want to read.

Their coffee has that just-roasted-beans flavor that's unique in town, to my palette.

It is wonderful. They also have the best coffee in town, in my humble opinion. Henry's rules!

And the bar is great. I can't wait until there is no smoking in it, although that will ruin my favorite section: the patio.

The Staff here is really poor. Bartenders lack creativity. Not a very good selection of drinks. The coffe house downstairs is the best feature of Henery's On Eigth St.

I thought Henry's was great! We went to the bar one night, and it was tons of fun! The bartenders are hot and make great martinis and the crowd there is the friendliest I have seen in Lawrence! To top it off, after a fun night out we stopped and got coffee, since it was cold out, and it was the best latte I've ever had!! Henry's Rocks!!

Update : They don't take credit cards these days, at least not downstairs.

I love the coffee shop. The bar upstairs has great atmosphere, and great drink specials. The bartenders are weak, they have no character. You order a drink, they nod and deliver, and that’s it. Sometimes the drinks they make are glaringly simplified in order just to get the job done.

Henry's is the greatest coffee shop of all time. Well, now that you can't smoke there it's just not the same. But it's still great. Where else can you see Dragon Book Readers, Radical Queers, and Asian pirates in capes all in one place?

At one time I would have considered Henry's one of the best coffee shops in the Midwest. As of the past year or two the atmosphere has become more banal. Perhaps in an effort to court a more affluent clientele, the ambiance has been toned down from a vibrant space for members of the community to gather, to a rather mundane status quo coffee shop. I see coffee shops as playing a vital role in society… catering to more than a person’s desire to drink coffee. In addition to knowledgeable baristi a good coffee shop should provide a social venue where people of different demographics can face one another and possibly broaden their horizons.
As a coffee nerd I still consider Henry’s the best java in town and lament the passing of their once vibrant social space.

I would never spend another dime at this place. The coffee was poorly made. The service was terrible. The staff was more concerned with socializing than taking care of customers. I even had the owners be rude to me. Avoid this place!
