I REALLY REALLY loved this bar at first. However, on two separate occasions I have been severely offended by the bar tenders. During the last encounter, I was called a variety of names and told I was a "lousy" tipper (which I most definately am not). I highly recommend people to join in my banning of Louise's , even though I know thier porches (and schooner nites) rock. All I have to say is that any bar tender who cusses at a customer does not deserve to work in this town.

Yes, I will have to align myself with your comments katej, Louise's downtown is a decent bar that suffers from a rude, uncourteous bartender. One night, I was at another bar up the street, and I needed to use the pay phone, but they didn't have one. I remembered that Louise's had one. I had left my cell phone at home, and all I had with me was a little bit of change and a debit card. I walked into Louise's and over to the phone when I realized I only had 45 cents in change, and I needed fifty cents. I asked a man sitting at the bar if he had a spare dime, and the bartender, a tall man with a sour looking face, asked me to leave the bar because I was "asking people for money" and then he threatened me with the police. All this over a measly little ten cent piece of steel, what is Lawrence coming too? I will never go to Louise's Downtown again, and I will encourage others not to as well. Louise's doesn't have that "laid back" social type atmosphere like it used too, and now the bartender is a complete asshole. The best thing Louise's downtown could do is to fire the current bartender and bring him down off of his "high horse" and find one that appreciates the customers and holds a little common courtesy. It is the miracle of the internet, when people have lousy service, they can be held to account.

This is the best all around bar in town. If you want a foo foo drink go somewhere else....They neither want nor need your business. And I personally LOVE the fact that they wont put up with pan handling.........Maybe the former person should of bought a beer before asking for money.

Now I'm no beer snob, but Louise's Downtown is easily the most disgusting place I've ever been, and I only go back when forced by friends. There is regularly puke somewhere on the floors, and the last time I was there, the upstairs men's bathroom started leaking onto our downstairs booth. Wonderfully heap beer on thursdays, but you have to put up with a massive crowd of idiots to get them.

Louise's Downtown is probably the coolest hole in town. Sure, the place is dark and dingy and it smells, and there is that ONE bartender who is a complete ass but he's probably just mad at his dad or something. That just goes to show that you shouldn't give power to insecure people. Perhaps you can remind him that he's in the SERVICE industry on your way out the door. That leaves a seat for me. You see, I don't go to bars to interact with the help. I go to interact with the patrons and the people who post up at Louise's are fun. Ranging from redneck to chic and everywere in-between, the crowd is eclectic enough for anyone to walk in and find someone or something to their liking. I don't know if they have food, because I'd never think to eat in a place like this, but they do have shitty beers in big cups and good beer in bottles, and sometimes that's good enough for me. I like the music, the lights are low enough that all the girls look good, and pool. They have pool. I fell in love at first sight.
