For GOOD BBQ Lawrence has only Gran-daddy's and the Vermont St. BBQ. Vermont street has unfortunately moved to Mass street and stopped delivering; therefore the charm and very good BBQ at Gran-daddy's moves it unquestionably into the #1 spot of BBQs in Lawrence. Also, we have all known and liked Courtee and family for a long time, and many of us will drive over the bridge to do business with him.

I don't know why I've always thought New York had the best barbeque, perhaps it has been because I'm from New York and I have never been able to find any Kansas barbeque as good as the barbeque I get when I'm in New York. Well, all of that has changed - after eating barbeque at almost all of the Lawrence sites and some of the "famous" Kansas City sites, I have finally tasted barbeque that worth going back to get again and again [which seems to be exactly what I have been doing lately]. Gran Daddy's BBQ has the kind of barbeque that makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I would highly suggest your trying their special style of barbeque [oh yea, and do try their sandwich called DaBomb]

I love Grandads food, his restaraunt and his family is truly the greatest!!! If you haven't had their food yet, then you know nothing about where the real home cooked food is. I gotta go, I gotta have da bomb sandwich now! It's shredded brisquet smothered in their homemade bbq sauce topped with 2 huge buns, to die for!! Mouth watering yet?

Can't get enough of this place. What could be more legit than Gran-daddy himself out front with his Tide bottle of god-knows-what smoking the most amazing ribs in town in the world's oldest smoker?
Absolutely love this place. Da Bomb sandwich is NOT TO BE MISSED -- it's bits of beef and burnt ends in his amazing sauce on a soft roll... so good!
And also even the small size fries is huge enough to share. Love love love this place.

Be sure to ask Granddaddy for some his "afro sausages" - patent pending. Really really really good (when he has some ready)!
