Our favorite restaurant. One can spend whatever the budget for the night... They have great specials with Sunset Menus, Prime Rib Sunday, Happy Hour, or just enjoy the regular menu!

If your budget for 2 people is $110. this is a very nice place to have dinner. Atmosphere is a classy steak house. Waitstaff not the best. quality of steak? average. Value, I prefer to leave the pretense at home, go to Montana Mike's and then put the $80. saved back in the bank.

The best steak and prime rib in Lawrence. When my vegetarian grand daughter visited, she had the eggplant Parmesan, I tasted it, and it was first rate. The drinks are large and good, the wine list is OK, but a little pricy.

I've only been to the Hereford House once and I was leery but I had the Hyvee coupon where you buy one entree and get one free so it turned out to be an affordable experience (hint hint).
Their steak is definately the best that I've had in the Lawrence area and the server was very good and attentive. Ambiance was pretty traditional for a steak house but I hear that they have murder mysteries so I might report back if I find anything interesting there.
My vegetarian s/o had the eggplant parmesan and it was very good, however, that was the only vegetarian entree that we noticed so it's somewhat unlikely we'll go back unless he's in the mood for it again.

If you love steak, you'll love the Hereford House. I remember hearing about the steak there when I lived across the country in Washington.
The food is amazing. I've had steak, chicken and salmon salad. The steak is probably the best I've ever had. The service has always been excellent- no problems there. Also love the bread and salads.
And yes, it is VERY pricey. We are two broke grad students who usually only go for special occasions. Here's a tip: sign up for their email list and you will get buy one entree, get one free every month or so.
That being said, I tried Longhorn Steakhouse for the first time ever and it was fantastic! Right up there with the quality of Hereford House steaks and the price is much better!
